Epsilon

American SE.International RANGER EXP high-performance radiation detector

The Ranger EXP is a high-performance, durable, lightweight radiation detector suitable for use in the field or at your facility. This radiation detector is designed for individuals working in harsh environments. Small handheld Geiger counter with excellent sensitivity to NORM and low levels of alpha, beta, gamma and X-rays. The digital readout is displayed as a red count light and beeps each time a count is detected. Additional features include adjustable timers, optional alarms, and the free Observer USB software range so you can download collected data and set alarms!

With the Free Radiation Alert ® Observer BLE app in the Google App Store, you can display detector readings, tag sample readings and descriptions, perform timed counts, attach GPS data, and send your saved survey files. Alarms set on the instrument will also be activated on your Android device.
Free Observer USB software (Windows® only) reads total count, CPM, μR/hr, mR/hr, CPS, μSv/hr and can collect and log data, set alarms, set timed counts, set calibration dates and settings , and generate reports.
American SE.International RANGER EXP high-performance radiation detector working range
mR/hr – 0.001 (1μR) to 100
CPM – 0 to 350,000
μSv/hr – 0.01 to 1000
CPS – 0 to 5000
Total count – 1 to 9,999,000 counts
energy sensitivity
Detects alpha as low as 2 MeV. Detects beta as low as 0.16 MeV; typical detection efficiency at 1 MeV is approx. 25%. Detect gamma down to 10 KeV through the detector window. 3340 CPM/mR/hr (137 Cs). The minimum detectable level of 125I upon exposure is 0.02 μCi.
Built-in efficiency
Sulfur (35 S), Strontium (90 Sr/y), Cesium (137 Cs), Phosphorus (32 P), Carbon (14 C), Iodine (131 I), Cobalt (60 Co) and Alpha
Accuracy
Reference Cs137 When shipped from the factory
Normally ±15%, ±10% when calibrated using NIST source NIST calibration additional
Optional alert settings
mR/hr .001 – 100 and CPM 1 – 350,000. 70db @ 1m. A pulsating buzzer sounds the alarm. Adjustable alarm levels for mR/hr/CPM and μSv/hr/CPS. The alarm will sound in timer mode when the set alarm threshold is reached.
Anti-saturation
The meter will remain in the OVER RANGE in fields up to 100 times the reading.
average period
This radiation detector display updates every 3 seconds. At low background levels, the update is the average of the past 30-second period. The time period of the average decreases with increasing radiation levels.
